About Giclées
If it looks like a painting, feels like a painting, and hangs like a painting, it’s a painting, right? Or, it could be a giclée, the finest art reproduction process in the world.
While nothing can replace the feeling of owning an original, giclées are the next best way to enjoy the art you love.
Giclée, (pronounced gee-CLAY), is the French word for a digital method of printing that produces exceedingly fine reproductions of quality art that are virtually indistinguishable from the originals. They are the worldwide, respected alternative that allows art lovers to own art that bridges the gap between high-priced originals and low-priced, faux prints. In fact, more than 64 percent of art galleries offer giclees to their patrons, in part because the archival, permanent inks that are used last 120 to 140 years without fading.
LSL giclees go through a nine-step, exacting method of reproduction:
STEPS 1, 2, 3: Photographing, scanning and saving the original to a computer.
STEPS 4, 5 & 6: Color and details are matched precisely to the originals by my technician and me, then printed onto highest quality, heavyweight canvas. The finalized, color-matched giclee is sprayed with a liquid laminate for waterproofing and 120 years of UV protection.
STEP 7: Each canvas is hand-stretched onto stretcher bars, ready for framing.*
STEPS 8 & 9: Each art piece is hand-signed and numbered, and, when possible, I also add enhancing brushstrokes, so that it is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art. The final step is re-varnishing.
You can order your giclee in almost any of these sizes, all planned to conform to standard, off-the-shelf frames:
8" x 10" = $95 | 9" x 12" = $110 |11" X 14" = $125 | 16" X 20" = $240 | 22" X 28" = $275 |18" X 24" = $250 | 24" X 30" = $300
*Giclées can be delivered to you on stretcher bars OR rolled and placed in a tube, ready for flat matting by your framer. Just let me know your preference.
