People/Portraits

“500 pen & ink drawings per semester!” Four semesters – 2000 drawings! That’s how Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) transformed beginning students like me into artists. Since I rode the NY subway system 3-hours per day to attend FIT, I had “models” sitting right across from me. I learned to draw everything . . . shoes, jeans, nubby-looking sweaters, the drape of fabrics, hands, hair, and best of all, EXCELLENT LIKENESSES of all my subway “models!” The result, I find it very easy to get the “likenesses” of children and adults. In this section, you’ll see my paintings of restful settings populated by people, and, whenever a painting looks like a real person and there’s no price associated with it, it was a COMMISSIONED PORTRAIT. Notice that they’re happy portraits, not formal or stuffy looking. That’s what I do, and if you like this casual style, I can do one for you too. Call me at 623-536-0405 so we can discuss it together.
